A vital key to hunting Wyoming is preference points. Not all areas need a point but they are helpful if you ever decide to draw one of those hard to draw areas like our River Bottom Elk hunt. The River Bottom Elk area usually take 4 points or better to draw this area. It is a limited quota area making it have fewer tags than other areas. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department implemented the preference point program in 2006. Allowing Non-resident hunters a better chance of drawing hard to draw areas.
There are two methods a hunter can purchase a preference point. The first method you can purchase one preference point per year for each species (antelope, deer, elk, moose, sheep). The second method to receive a point is by applying for a license during the application period if you fail to draw that area as your first choice you will be given a point. In some cases you can apply for a hard to draw area as your first choice and an easier area for your second choice, if you draw your second choice area you will receive a point and still be able to hunt in Wyoming this fall. Each hunter is allowed one point per year.
In 2010, Tyler Sims Outfitting LLC decided to take it a step further by helping hunter apply for applications and preference points. This program is meant to helping hunters, giving them a chance to draw hard to draw areas or draw with a lower price license. Please take a look at the benefits of this program below. We offer a three year or a five year program but you choose to do it year by year also.Benefits of entering into the program
Tyler Sims Outfitting LLC discounts your hunt with the points you have purchased through the program for that species.
Example: You purchased a 5 year antelope preference point program ($155) on year three you decide to apply for a license and are successful, Tyler Sims Outfitting LLC will deduct $155 from your hunt. This preference point program allows you to purchase points now and have Tyler Sims Outfitting LLC manage your points.
